Xuchi Naungayan Eggleton: A Liminal Situation

Xuchi Naungayan Eggleton is SDAI’s current Artist-in-Residence and has been working on her latest exhibition for the past three months.

The piece titled My Universe is based on the Tibetan representation of the cosmos, as seen through the two dimensional image of a mandala. In this case, it is in high relief, a nod to the actual three-dimensional structure. Her second new piece titled Feast is layered as a hexagram and borrows from the seal of Solomon, the traditions of vanitas still life genre painting, color theory, and modern day mysticism. This three-dimensional diagram acts as a talisman and declaration of our first world hubris. Lastly, her piece Beyond Violet, a Community Works Project addresses that which cannot be completely seen. All three projects share a common agreement and elusive ingredient, that through collaboration and the shared experience of making, they are complete.

The exhibition runs from November 27th-December 2nd. Be sure to stop by and enjoy this vibrant, ephemeral art.
