Camp Parkeology

  • San Diego Art Institute 1439 El Prado San Diego, CA, 92101 (map)

K - 3

Camp Parkeology offers young people a chance to uncover Balboa Park’s hidden past by exploring the very rich archives of this 100 year-old local treasure.  Participants of this camp will explore parts of museums that are generally not accessed by the public and will use their findings to inspire new works of visual and performance art.

Camp Parkeology will be led by artist and educator Kate Clark. Kate obtained her MFA from UCSD and BFA from Evergreen College. Kate’s interdisciplinary background in art, urban design, and education informed the Balboa Park-wide art and curatorial project, Parkeology, from which this camp derives.  She has received numerous grants and fellowships in support of her work, which she has exhibited widely. Due to its interactive scope and unique programming, Kate received the largest grant distributed by the California Arts Council Grant in 2015 for Parkeology.
