Art and Activism

  • San Diego Art Institute 1439 El Prado San Diego, CA, 92101 United States (map)

$5.00 for non-members

Now is a critical time for art and activism. Join us to learn about artivism in this bi-national region, and take advantage of the opportunity to connect with other artists who utilize their work as a political platform, as well as activists who position art centrally in their practices. Sharing their galvanizing wisdom will be: John Malpede, Founding Artistic Director of the Lost Angeles Poverty Department; Luis G. Hernandez, Artist/Co-Founder of the MexiCali Biennial and Director of the Steppling Art Gallery at SDSU; Amy Sanchez and Misael Diaz of cog*nate collective; Felicia Montes, Co-Founder and Coordinating Core Member of Mujeres de Maíz; and Oscar Romo, Professor of Urban Studies and Planning at UCSD and Founding Director of Alter Terra.
