THOLLEM
Thollem is a pianist, keyboardist, organist, composer, improviser, singer-songwriter, activist, author and teacher. He's spent his life skirting and erasing the edges of boundaries musically, culturally, geographically. His work is ever changing, evolving and responding to the times and his experiences, both as a soloist and in collaboration with hundreds of artists across idioms and disciplines. Though Thollem's widely known as an acoustic piano player, he's also the lead vocalist for the Italian agit-punk band Tsigoti and has recently branched out significantly into the world of electronics through a multitude of projects. He has performed and recorded prolifically, with but not limited to: Pauline Oliveros, William Parker, Nels Cline, Mike Watt, Nate Wooley, Sandy Ewen, Kjell Nordeson, Darin Gray, Glenn Kotche, Larry Ochs, Michel Doneda and Rob Mazurek.

Hot Pursuit Of Happiness is Thollem's solo show forging a fun-filled onslaught of PunkWorldNoiseBluesAvantAmericana through an unruly electronic beast of vintage keyboards and stomp boxes. About the insane absurdity of 21st century America, always somewhere between being pursued and pursuing, healthy rage against it all, love and death, the time of our lives. With songs from recent albums Machine In The Ghost, Always Put On Your Sincere Face and Tsigoti, plus music from Howled Ground, Operation Sunbeam and Thollem's newest release Who Are U.S. When possible the show will be backdropped by a hyper-speed video of Silver Ochre's trip around the U.S. last year. Thollem's visit to San Diego is a waypoint on his continental U.S. tour from April 6th - Nov. 19th.

HELIXHAND
Helixhand is the audiovisual and electronic music project of Ashley Capachione. A Boston, Massachusetts transplant, she began recording experimental electronic music under the project name BATHAUS after finding sonic influence in New England’s sacred spaces and historical structures. Her work continues to dissect and revision spiritual connectivity, ritual and folklore within an audiovisual practice. She’s released music under Phantasma Disques, Cleopatra Records, Apothecary Compositions, Haute Magie Records and Unspeakable Records and has performed solo and collaboratively at SXSW, Together Festival, Discwoman NYC, Evlv tech Fest, The Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston and The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Her music has been noted for its atypical layering of samples and well as a wide array of influences ranging from industrial, techno, ambient and lo-fi. Capachione is the co-founder of Substructure Boston, an electronic music series and platform showcasing underrepresented artists and inspiring women to positions of power.

DEAD LION
Composer, sound artist, and instrument builder. Completely ambivalent about music. Daniel Prince studied with composer Maryanne Amacher and with multi-instrumentalist Mark Stewart. He has performed as a soloist on modular synthesizer with the American Symphony Orchestra, developed sound installations in abandoned concert halls, and played innumerable basement punk shows. Daniel’s lifework investigating the aesthetics of hearing damage has received international press (Nature Journal, 2014); as an ally in the search for a cure, he has been awarded the title of  “tinnitus ambassador” by the Deutsche Tinnitus-Stiftung. Recent activities include a Project Grant from the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage. Daniel received his MA in Music Composition from Wesleyan University, has taught analog synthesis at Bard College, and, as fate would have it, is now pursuing his PhD at University of California, San Diego.
