Eligibility

This exhibition is open to all artists without residency restrictions. Art must be original, have been completed within the last two years and never have been exhibited in any SDAI juried show or exhibition.

Rules of Entry

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Up to two works for art may be submitted per artist. Work may be two or three-dimensional. All media welcomed except crafts or functional art.

INSURANCE & SHIPPING

The SDAI carries no insurance for loss or damage to artwork in the gallery or in transit, nor assumes liability for same. However, every precaution will be taken for the safety of the work. Artists should provide their own coverage. Returned work is shipped at the artist's expense
prepaid in US funds only with designated shipper prearranged.

Exhibited work which is not sold will be shipped (prepaid by artist) by July 6. Hand delivered artwork may be picked up at 4pm on Sun. June 10, or by appointment thereafter. NO PICK UP of artwork Mon/Tues. June 11- 12, 18, or 25-26. (After July 31. Storage fees of $5 per day will accrue.)

EXHIBITION REQUIREMENTS

All two-dimensional work must be framed, with some exceptions:
1. Work supported by a dowel and having either grommets or wire for hanging.
2. Unframed stretched canvas may be accepted if the sides are prepared and no
staples are visible. (Fully wrapped canvas only)

No two-dimensional work shall exceed 8' vertical and 8' horizontal overall (multi-part must include spacing) including frame, nor shall weigh more than 40 lbs. each unit. All hanging works must have screw eyes or track mounted clips and heavy picture wire attached securely for hanging. Wire must be attached to the vertical edges at a point 1/5th of the vertical measurement. All works on paper or fragile surfaces must be framed and/or under protective Plexiglas. Glass can not be used. Three-dimensional work shall be a minimum of 10 in. and a maximum of 8 ft. in any one direction and shall not exceed 40 lbs. in each unit. Multiple part works must have each part labeled along with the diagram for hanging or assembly on each part. Please note: requirements are based on SDAI’s intention to produce and showcase professional exhibitions which ensure the safety of the artwork and individuals hanging the artwork.

UNACCEPTABLE

Wet and /or uncured paintings, electrical works, works under glass, works needing
special hooks or any work considered unsafe. NO SPECIAL HANDLING OR SPECIAL INSTALLATIONS. No work priced or valued exceeding $2000 US Dollars will be accepted unless proof of insurance or notarized release of liability is provided to SDAI. Work deemed too fragile or delicate or failing to meet other requirements will not be accepted and returned at artist's expense. Works over $2,000 will be listed POR or NFS.

SALES

Artwork may be for sale. A commission of 40% will be paid to SDAI upon sale. On credit card sales, a 4% service charge will be borne by the artist. Artist's checks are mailed on the 10th of the month (following the completion of the show). Once stated, the price nor title of the work shall not be changed. If the item is not for sale, a value not to exceed $2000 US Dollars must be declared unless proof of insurance or notarized release of liability is provided to SDAI.
All proceeds support SDAI programs of education, exhibition and outreach.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Entries will be in JPEG format only.
  2. Please have ready up to two entries in JPEG format. For purpose of jurying the files the acceptable file size is a maximum of 1MB, and must be between 400- 2000 pixels height or width, the resolution (dpi) at 72 and the quality 75-100%
    a. One image for each complete entry
    b. Up to Three images for each free-standing, three-dimensional entry (no detail images accepted)

  5. Pay through PAYPAL, no checks or money orders will be accepted
  6. Only entries submitted online will be accepted. Entries received by mail will be returned unopened
