Art Education :
SDAI maintains a separate facility for education. Classes in life drawing, painting, water color, children's art, and various photography classes are a sampling of the SDAI art educational programs offered. SDAI also offers comprehensive computer classes in multimedia and animation plus various workshops on specific computer programs.
Lectures, Dialogues & Tours:
A program of special evening informative lectures/discussions aimed at both artists and the interested public as well as tours to regional art venues such as museums, galleries and artists' studios
Sony Artwalk:
An annual community arts festival event sponsored by SDAI and a variety of corporate entities to showcase the visual and performing arts in four downtown neighborhoods linked by trolley. Ticket proceeds benefit all non-profit partners.
Alternative Exhibitions:
Occasional shows are mounted at SDAI's educational facility, i.e. Artwalk All Members Show, student and teacher shows; bi-monthly selections from current shows at SDAI are installed at our corporate sponsor Unisys' headquarters on a rotational basis; Sky Gallery exhibition at SDAI, Balboa Park -- large works not eligible for regular shows, are juried for the stairway clerestory walls for extended exhibition.
The Art Institute Gallery:
A new exhibition of works by talented San Diego artists opens every six weeks in this specially designed 10,000 square-foot state-of-the-art floating gallery space. These juried exhibits display works in mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, monoprint, collage, assemblage, mixed media, photography and sculpture. A solo artist's work is also featured along with the main gallery exhibition. The David Fleet Young Artists Gallery showcases work from schools in the San Diego region.
David G. Fleet Young Artist Gallery:
This is a wonderful space for the exhibition of the youth of San Diego. We are very proud of a permanent gallery for support of arts exposure to our children and young artists.
Robert D. and Ginger E. Wallace Center:
The center supports the opportunity for showcasing regional emerging talent in the area of visual arts. The open gallery with its moveable walls allows for flexibility in staging the ever-changing exhibitions offered throughout the year.
Outreach Through Exhibition Series:
This call to artists concerning social and or community issues, is a powerful tool in giving back to our community as well as giving contemporary arts a voice here in San Diego.
The Artisan Shoppe:
This is our gift shop in our House of Charm location. This venue not only helps to finance our operations but also is an excellent offering to the general public of the original artworks of local artisans.
