Youth Art Education :

Through our David G. Fleet Young Artist’s Gallery Youth Programs, we are actively involved in encouraging art education as a core-curriculum within our schools. We believe that art improves social skills, helps students with general academic performance and raises their self-esteem. Art aids in early childhood development and becomes an alternative to substance abuse and violence. Each exhibition is complemented by a free public reception for the artists, students and their teachers, principals, and parents.

Our goal is to encourage students to discover the significance and value of art in their lives.

ART BOX Program

The Museum of the Living Artist at San Diego Art Institute invites your school to participate in our ART BOX program.  The primary goal of the ART BOX program is to deepen the artistic experience of all students who participate.  This educational process is designed to heighten students’ perceptual ability; expand their understanding of the underlying structure (including the social, cultural and historical contexts from which a work of art is created); and illuminate the choices made by artists, which help shape, the perceiver’s experiences.  The aesthetic education approach to art brings students into the world of art through explorations that actively engage them in perception, reflection, and discussion.  As a result, unexpected connections are made, alternative points of view considered, complexities explored, and doors to new and imagined world opened.
